What Trovo Is

Trovo is a private trip companion app. We help small groups plan trips together, share live locations during the trip, and collect photos tagged to the places you visit. This is not a commercial service with hundreds of customers — it's a personal tool built for people who trust each other.

What Data We Collect

Account Information

Email address, display name, and optional profile photo. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

Trip Data

Itineraries, bookings, notes, preparation checklists, and party member names you create or are invited to.

Location Data

When you Allow location sharing during a trip, your GPS coordinates are saved and visible to other trip members. Location sharing is opt-in, can be paused at any time, and only runs during the trip dates. We never sell or share location data with third parties.

Photos

Photos you upload are stored with GPS coordinates (if available) and are visible to trip members. You or Dev can delete your photos at any time.

AI Chat History

Conversations with the Trovo bot are saved to improve your experience and provide context in future chats. Your chat history is private to you.

Who Can See Your Data

  • Trip members: People on the same trip can see itinerary details, shared locations, and photos from that trip.
  • Dev (app administrator): Has access to all trips and users for app maintenance and support.
  • No one else: We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, marketers, or third-party analytics services.

Where Data is Processed

Your data is stored in Supabase (Postgres database and file storage) and served via Vercel. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap. Geocoding uses the public Nominatim API. AI chat is powered by DeepSeek. All of these are standard, reputable infrastructure providers.

Your Rights

You can update your profile information in Settings. You can delete your own photos from the Gallery or individual stops. If you want your account and all associated data removed, contact the app administrator (see below).

Security

We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, row-level security in the database, and rate-limited authentication. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the date at the top and notify active users. Continued use of Trovo means you accept the updated terms.
